S&W model 29-8 Mountain Gun for sale in San Antonio Texas

This is a 29-8 Mountain Gun. The barrel is a different shape from the other Model 29 series. The first 29-8 was for the stocking dealers and was built on a 4-screw classic frame. The second was a Mountain Gun for Talo distributors and had Altamont stippled grips with Mountain laser engraved on them. These were built on a 3-screw frame that S&W may have had in inventory. Only 1000 were made. Then comes the third version which this gun is. Also built on a 3-screw frame and equipped with Altamont grips. Probably overruns from the Talo build. These were sold to Cabelas and had the inscription Outfitter Series and Elk antlers laser etched on the side plate. This series is probably the rarest of the 29-8 series. Included is a letter from S&W with the birth date and delivery information however they were not able to tell me how many were produced.
