S&W Model 11, .38 Sp, 5" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a "Lend-Lease" WWII revolver with all matching numbers. Australian proofed.
This revolver was rechambered to .38 Special by Australian armorers and has matching numbers on the frame, cylinder, extractor, yoke, and barrel with the metal retaining 95% plus of the armory re-applied phosphate finish that has silvered along some of the exposed edges and on the sides of the barrel. The frame is extensively arsenal marked with Broad Arrow property markings as well as a large "REBORED IN AUSTRALIA" legend along the bottom of the sideplate. The hammer and trigger have much of their original color case-hardening remaining with the balance turned to a lightly stippled gray patina. The checkered walnut diamond-centered grips are numbered to a different gun on the interior and are in fine shape having some moderate flattening of the points as well as some minor wear and small marks around the butt. This is a nice M&P revolver in fine condition as refurbished.
These Model 11's are a bit of an oddball since in 1958 S&W introduced the current revolver model ID system and this oddball counterpart to the American Model 10 became known as the Model 11.
