Up for bid is a 10th Series Japanese Arisaka Type 99 from the Nagoya Arsenal. It is a REAL WW2 Pacific Theater battlefield bring back that was captured by the late Wayne McKee. Wayne was a civilian contractor operating a bulldozer, building runways for the US Military, when the Japs invaded the Philippines in December 1941. Wayne was captured in January 1942 when the Philippines fell to the Japanese. He was forced to march in the Bataan Death March. Later in his interment he was transferred to the Santo Tomas prison camp because he was a civilian. It was there that he escaped, (ahem/quiet cough)...procured this rifle, joined the local guerilla force, and fought the Japs with this rifle (according to him).
I personally knew Mr. McKee and got the story strait from him. No documentation to prove it but thought the next owner might like to know what I was told.
The rifle is remarkably in good shape for being 80ish years old and surviving a harsh and humid jungle environment. The MUM is unmolested but faint. It is my guess that Wayne probably rubbed the rifle down about a thousand times with leaves, dirt, dirty rags, etc (in an effort to keep it clean and functioning without the benefit of lubricants) that he wore the finish down along with the rifle's markings. The rifle and serial numbered parts are 100% matching just as they were when they left the factory.
I have never fired the rifle but I can tell you that if you cock the rifle, let a pencil slide down the bore, and pull the trigger that the pencil is ejected. Thus, indicating the firing pin is working and most likely would fire a round. I have tested each screw and found that they are not rusted and each turns freely.
If you are local to the Argyle/Denton area and would like to come take a look at this piece then please message me email system and we can make some arrangements. I can send you more pictures as TGT only allows for two to be uploaded for these listings.
I am willing to listen to firearms/ammo related trade offers. I am willing to ship but would be about $50.
