Hi there and thanks for looking!
I’m offering for your consideration bullets pulled from WWII 8mm Mauser cartridges (i.e. 7.92x57mm, 8x57, etc.). These are nice spitzer projectiles with a lead core and a nickel-plated steel jacket. They were originally loaded in Turkish-headstamped, Berdan-primed brass cases. The cartridges were dated in the 1930s and 1940s. I noticed some issues with some of the loaded cartridges, (these included dented or corroded cases, cracked or split necks, and loose projectiles). So rather than risk a problem shooting them, I disassembled them all into components. The bullets themselves are a little tarnished but otherwise look fine; I pulled them with an impact bullet puller, so no claw marks, but they do have crimp marks on the tapered “waist” where they were originally crimped into the cases and some have a little [asphalt?] residue on the back end that was inside the case mouth. A quick round in the tumbler should make them look like new.
I weighed and sorted every one and ~85 percent weighed 154 grains, with maybe 10 percent at 152 grains and the remaining 5 percent at 156 grains (this was on a crappy scale with a 2 grain resolution, so the bullets could weigh as little as 151 grains or as much as 157 grains). You’ll probably want to weigh and sort them after cleaning to ensure the best accuracy for your reloads. I also took a sample of 20 and measured them with a digital caliper; the bullets in my sample measured 0.322” to 0.323” in diameter and 1.077” to 1.107” in length.
If you’ve got an old K98 and just want some bullets to load up as non-corrosive “blaster” ammo, these would be perfect. That’s what I would do, but I only one one gun in 8mm and I don’t have dies to reload the caliber, so I’m passing these along. There’s not really much more I can say about them. Not bad looking bullets considering they’re between 70 and 80 years old.
I've got exactly 839 of these and will sell them in the following quantities/prices:
100 for $40 (40 cents each)
400 for $140 (35 cents each)
839 for $250 (30 cents each)
I've also got ~1200 of the original Berdan-Primed (corrosive) 8mm cases that these were loaded in, so please check my other listings.
Face to face in Austin ONLY. I prefer to meet at the Academy on I-35 at St. Johns or the Academy on 183 at Oak Knoll.
