I'm posting here because I too am a gun guy and I use this site constantly to buy stuff and occasionally sell stuff. If you are not into the solar concept, that's ok, please just move on and save me (and everyone else) the drama. I've raised four daughters, if I wanted more drama I would have had more daughters. San Antonio's utility company has a $2500 rebate, the IRS then gives a 26% tax credit. The utility company also has a PRICE CAP of $4.00 per watt to stop predatory companies from overcharging. This solar system in this promotion is priced at $3.74 per watt without batteries. What I'm saying is that it really is a free battery, this system is below the price cap and the battery is included. This price does include an additional discount for good credit financing, using a credit card or paying cash. The other thing these companies will do is put you a high-cost finance program that will approve just about anyone and people that have good credit are paying the risk factor for those that don't. I have those programs available to, but this finance option discount will go away. SYSTEM SPECIFICS: This is a turnkey, no surprises, residential rooftop grid-tied solar installation within CPS Energy territory (for the $2500 rebate). It's a 6.4kw system (6,400 watts) made up of 16-400 bifacial solar panels from a Tier-1 manufacturer, with a hybrid battery ready inverter that will work when the grid is down. No corners are cut, this system has module-level optimization and module-level monitoring. The solar panels have a 30-year warranty compared to the industry standard 25 years. This also includes the extended 20-year warranty on the inverter compared to the factory 10-year warranty. This inverter is also oversized for future expansion. This 6.4kw system is expandable to 11.4kw by basically just adding panels. THE BATTERY: All batteries have limitations; namely your budget. This is a critical load backup (not a whole home backup). Ideally, we are able to intercept your existing subpanel, usually in the garage and this gives you access to all of your 110v circuits. i.e. refrigerator, freezer, lights, microwave, fans, outlets, etc. This is a 10kWh battery similar to tesla, lg, panasonic etc. however this battery is a safer chemistry (Lithium Ferrous Phosphate) with better longevity performance and specifically designed for solar backup, not cars. PRICING: The fast-moving high-pressure guys take you straight to the payment on a 25 yr loan and hide a lot of commissions, finance costs, and exuberant profit in the monthly payment. They like to convince it's "free" when what they really mean is it pays for itself, which it basically does. 6400 watts X $3.74 is $23,958 minus the -$2500 instant rebate and minus the -$6,229 IRS tax credit is $15,879 final costs. At this price and the favorable finance or cash discount your monthly payment if you have good credit is appx $98.71. This is about what the system is going to save in electricity so that is why I say it will essentially pays for itself. A battery add-on alone is usually $12k. this is a free battery add-on to this system. ABOUT BATTERY BACKUP: Your expectations are everything if you believe this is going to power your entire house including your hot tub, crypto miners, and electric vehicle and pool pump you are going to be disappointed. However, this is a heavy hitter in the arena of 10kWh battery setups and you can expect a 20 yr standby life or 10 years on the battery with daily cycles per the warranty. You can also expand the battery bank for more storage but the energy output is the same, you just have more stored up. Buying solar with batteries is a lot like buying a gun. You can get a generic Remington 30.06 at Walmart that kills deer for about $300 or you can Get a Proof Carbon barrel, titanium action in a 28 Nosler that also kills deer for about $6200. This offer on solar is somewhere in the middle. *what is bifacial? at typical solar panel has a sheet of glass on top, the solar cells in the middle and an opaque backsheet on the bottom. this panel (bifacial) has two layers of glass with the solar cells in the middle and is designed to harvest additional power from the ambient light on the bottom side. *what is "Tier-1"? this is a rating by Bloomberg Industries that rates solar panel manufacturers based on their history, financial solidarity, warranty, and capacity. It's not a huge deal but it's nice to know that what your getting has higher authentication other than paying their UL application fee. If you got this far, I thank you.
