I’m considering trading my Colt AR901 in 7.62/308. I’m looking exclusively for an M1A Loaded or higher grade such as National Match or Super Match. If you know about the 901 series then you know the value and relative scarcity.
This rifle is comprised solely of Colt factory parts, however it is somewhat of a unicorn in that it was assembled from Colt parts purchased at different times. I purchased the lower before the Hillary Clinton presidential run thinking like everyone else that there were likely more restrictive laws coming. My thoughts were that I would secure the lower and then buy the upper and other parts at a later date. I wasn’t aware at the time that Colt wasn’t planning on releasing those parts to the public. For about two years what I had was a heavy duty AR15. I do have the 5.56 conversion parts to mount a AR-15 upper on it. These are going for around $300 on GB when you can find one.
Eventually I was able to obtain a 901 upper and bolt carrier group. A complete BCG is very rare and I’ve only found the one that I bought. This may be (I’m not positive) the only complete Colt 901 that didn’t leave the factory as a complete rifle. The only difference that I’m aware of is that this rifle doesn’t have an ambidextrous mag release making it a AR901 and not a LE901. I’m good with this because I once saw a LE901 going cheap on Gunbroker because it had received a blow on the lower receiver and it cracked the metal around the ambi mag release.
I’m looking for a M1A Loaded or better grade such as National Match or Super Match. The Trijicon ACOG is not intended as a part of the deal unless the deal is right.
I’m placing the value of the Colt over $2,500 without the ACOG. If you are interested in making a trade offer, shoot me a message. More than likely I would require cash back my way. It it would depend on the deal.
The only other potential trade interest that I might consider would be a high end lever action like a 45-70 take down.
