The Zastava M83 revolvers were designed to be sturdy workhorses. Occasionally, you get lucky and find a workhorse that also looks good . . . like this one. Our revolver is an M83/94 model, serial number 68169. The 94 likely indicates production in 1994.

This model was Yugoslavian produced and based on the Smith & Wesson K frame models. The M83 was primarily intended for military and police use and, as such, they’re very solidly made. Pick one up and the all steel frame feels . . . solid. Not heavy, but solid.

There were a variety of finishes and grips on these revolvers. Ours is a stainless finish and has a 4 inch vent rib barrel. The fluted cylinder holds 6 rounds of either 357 Mag or 38 Special. The full lug under the barrel protects and hides the ejector rod.

Most of these revolvers had a fixed notch rear sight and a front sight dovetailed in position. Ours, however, has the much less common adjustable rear sight. Besides being the more desired version, the adjustable sight is a big functional improvement as well.

The revolver is a double action model and these had a very good reputation for accuracy . . . in single action mode. The single action trigger is crisp and has no takeup. The double action pull is heavy and you won’t win any accuracy competitions shooting in double action.

The grips appear to be a more recent addition, replacing the often criticized loose fit of the factory grips. These black, partially checkered grips are in Excellent condition.

Condition of the revolver overall is Very Good – Excellent. The stainless finish is in Very Good condition and we think that you’ll agree after you review the photos. There is one small, narrow scratch on the left side, just forward of the cylinder. The bore is in Good condition, but could use a good cleaning. The barrel is very bright and the rifling appears to be strong.

If you’re looking for a solidly built 357 revolver that can stand up to the demands that you may place on it, this one is worth a long look. Reasonably priced and in great condition, this one is ready to be a workhorse for you. We’ve sold a number of these Zastava revolvers and this one may be the nicest that we’ve seen!
