Up for sale is my 1997 Ford F250 XLT Heavy Duty Long Bed 7.3L V8 Turbo Diesel 4X4 Off Road with 145,000 ORIGINAL miles.

I purchased this OBS truck in May 2018 from the original owner who resided in New Mexico – no rust!

This vehicle spent the first 21+ years in New Mexico before I owned it and has since traveled between Texas, South Carolina, and Missouri. Only when I moved to Charleston, SC did superficial rust begin to form on the bare metal (ocean air).

Truck is in good mechanical condition but does need a new paint job, some dents pulled, etc. (28 years old) – Feb 1997 production.

No major accidents – but it is my understanding that the original owner had a parking lot collision back in the early 2000s while visiting his son at Texas Tech University (you can see paint peeling from pictures on the passenger door).

Fresh Oil Change this month for the new owner!

I’ve really enjoyed owning this truck over the last seven years and I’m sure I’ll regret selling it, however, it is no longer practical as I commute to downtown Houston for work (little tight fit in the parking garage).

A few other notables:

I always added Rev-X oil additive at every oil change (extra TLC). Oil was always changed on time, I recently replaced the headlights and swapped incandescent bulbs for LEDs. I’ve never used the winch on the front – it does have power, but should be serviced before use. Automatic 4X4 was converted to manual WARN hubs prior to me. Tires are basically new (8K miles). Cruise Control stopped working sometime in the last 4 years – I never used it, could be a simple fix? ABS light has turned on intermittently since I bought the truck – I’ve had multiple shops look at this, they have no idea… said my brakes seem fine and to just disregard. While the truck has been ‘chipped’ I only bought it for the gas savings feature – initially attempted to buy the 1 position chip, but it was discontinued and shop gave me the six-position chip instead. I’ve never taken this truck off-roading, only used the 4X4 over mountain passes and towing my boat out to the lake. I’ve taken this truck from Texas to Washington State to South Carolina and back to Texas on road trips. As you can see from my mileage (35K miles over seven years), I only used as a supplemental vehicle (averaging 5K per/year) – that said, could easily be a daily driver.

I’d love to see someone take this truck to the next level with a new paint job / cherry it out. OR it would make for a great work truck – infamous 7.3 is reliable and can haul good weight.
