I have an M1903 Springfield that's in great condition, made in 1917. All parts have matching serial numbers and there is a 'P' proofmark on the bottom of the stock (from Army inspectors at the time of production). This is a great rifle for a collector.
The markings 11 - 42 are on the top of the barrel.
I took it to the gun range in May for the first time and it shoots great, very accurate and smooth operation.
