The Winchester Model 52 was developed in 1919 and introduced in 1920. It dominated small bore competition for 60 years until it was discontinued in 1980 when the Olin family sold their company control. Interestingly, it has been reported that the Model 52 was always a "loss-leader" item for Winchester due to the amount of hand craftsmanship needed to produce an exceptionally accurate target rifle.
Offered here is a vintage 1946 Winchester Model 52B Benchrest .22 LR Match Grade Custom Target Rifle. This is a rifle for a special person who enjoys precision marksmanship. I got this rifle in a trade and fell in love with its vintage style, fine craftsmanship, and precision functioning. It is a remarkable rifle, but it is not me. I am a 78-year-old handgun guy who loves blue steel and walnut, who shot an NRA match, and who now enjoys shooting steel and killing water bottles. I have several extremely nice .22 LR rifles, but I am not a bench rest paper shooter. This rifle is wasted on me.
HAVE IT YOUR WAY. It has a vintage Lyman Super-Targetspot 12X scope, and a vintage Marble-Goss receiver sight, and a Valver Globe front sight. Switching from optic to iron and vice versa takes only a couple of minutes and does not require any re-zeroing. You can buy it with both the Lyman scope and Marble-Goss/ Vaver receiver & globe sight only. I will not sell the Lyman scope separately.
WHAT MAKES IT SPECIAL? Gunsmith and competitive shooter Brian Voelger made the rifle even better by tuning it and adding a Shilen Match Grade Heavy 26" 1 in 16 twist barrel. The barrel does not vary in grove diameter by more than .0003. The original crisp Winchester Speed Lock trigger pull is 2.4 lbs. The Walnut stock has a flat beaver tail, Comes with an accessory screw on the walnut cheekpiece. The Marble-Goss Revcier sight sells for $300 on eBay, and the Lyman Super-TargetSpot 12X scope sells for $700.00 to $900.00. If you are looking for a "Plinker," this isn't it.
SCOPE SPECS: Lyman Super-Targetspot, Bausch & Lomb polarized 34mm objective, Front sleeve with white graduation marks from 50 Feet to 200 yards for range focal adjustment with automatic parallax adjustment, 100 yards 9'3"FOV, 24" long, 3 point suspension mounts with 1/4" minute micro-click adjustment, metal screw-on end caps. Optics are excellent work perfectly.
THE TARGET PICTURED IS A 10-SHOT SUB-MOA GROUP AT 100 YARDS WITH TELESCOPIC SIGHT USING STANDARD CCI AMMO. I WISH I COULD SAY I SHOT IT, BUT I DIDN'T. A YOUNGER MAN WITH BETTER VISION DID.
THE SELLING PRICE IS $1800 with the Lyman 12X Super Spot Taargetscope & Mable-Goss Receiver sight and Vaver front globe sight, which are easily interchangeable and require no re-zeroing,
THE SELLING PRICE IS $1200 with Marble-Goss Receiver Sight and Vaver Globe front sight only. This is a 13 lb rifle. I estimate insured shipping costs to your FFL dealer to be about $80, but if it's less, you will only be charged the actual cost based on your location.
