The real deal here. Model 1889 Marlin in 32-20 caliber. Manufactured in 1890 by serial number. Second year of production. This is the first model of Marlin with a solid frame. Gun is in pretty good condition considering it’s 135 years old. The stock is not cracked or split. The metal is mostly patina with no significant rust or corrosion. The bore is dark but has good rifling all the way through. I’ve owned several of these older rifles and most have pretty significant bore erosion at the chamber throat from black powder. Smokeless powder did not hit the market til 1894. But running a patch down the bore of this rifle indicates that whoever originally owned it took care and cleaned it properly after shooting it. The rifling is very good but dark as you would expect. I have not fired this rifle but I did cycle some rounds through it and it functions properly in every respect. I have more pics in my phone I can send upon request. Low ballers don’t bother. I do not really need to sell this rifle. I’m getting old and want to start liquidating stuff to prevent my wife from having to deal with it after I’m gone. I live in far west Bexar county but willing to travel a reasonable distance to meet up. Call or text Ron at two 10 three 85 seven 187.
