Dear Texas Gun Trader Users,
We are writing to inform you about a security incident affecting our database that was discovered on 9/24. After conducting a thorough investigation, we have confirmed that unauthorized access to a backup database occurred, potentially compromising some of your personal information.

Type of Data Involved:
• User Name
• First Name
• Last Name
• Last Name
• Address
• Passwords

We do not store financial information such as credit cards or bank account information. No banking information was compromised.

Details of the Breach:
We are still investigating the breach. I believe this is what happened:
We are in the process of upgrading the Texas Gun Trader’s core software. Part of this process required us to move a copy of the database to a new server.
One of the requirements was to decrypt user passwords so accounts could be imported in to the new system.
This server was not properly secured when provisioned. Attackers exploited this flaw and gained access to information in the database.
Steps We Are Taking:
1. Immediate Containment: The breach has been contained, and additional security measures have been implemented to prevent similar occurrences.
2. Investigation: A comprehensive investigation in collaboration with cybersecurity experts is underway to fully understand the breach and enhance our security protocols.
3. Notification: We are notifying all affected individuals, regulatory authorities, and law enforcement as required by law.

What You Should Do:
• Log in to TexasGunTrader and change your password. If you use this password for other accounts such as banking or email change as well. Monitor Your Accounts: Regularly review statements and account activities for any unauthorized charges or unusual activity.
• Fraud Alerts: Consider placing a fraud alert on your credit file by contacting one of the major credit bureaus.

We Apologize: We deeply regret this incident and the inconvenience it may cause.

Sincerely,
David Bradford
President Texas Gun Trader
