Capacity: 17+1 = 18 rounds of 9mm. SIGHTS: The tried-and-true 3 dot system with a great sight picture. Both front and rear sights steel, and both are milled and dovetailed into the steel on the slide – these are never coming off. Rear sight is driftable (adjustable) if you want. The rear sight is a Novak-style, no-snag design – really nice. Ruger mount this rear sight perfectly mounted to maximize sight radius and hence your accuracy. It also lines up even with the rear of the slide and looks great! Same goes for the front sight – it is mounted far forward to also maximize sight radius … and your accuracy. GRIP: Nicely textured for a secure, non-slip and comfortable grip. And it sports Ruger’s bragging line – it is one of the slimmest grips of any double-stack 9mm on the market- 1.18 inches wide throughout most of the grip. Trigger guard has the perfect undercut to make holding this pistol feel snug, secure and just right. CONTROLS: Ambidextrous magazine release and manual safety. The manual safety is position where the thumb safety on a 1911 is and functions the same way (down to fire). Mag release is very positive and quick like other Rugers. Recoil spring is strong but still easy to rack the slide due to slide serrations and wide space for your fingers to rest on (kind of Ruger thing when it comes to slides). Mag release, safety and slide pin are all tucked tight against the gun and never interfere with drawing or holstering. The pistol also has a magazine disconnect safety. TRIGGER: Trigger pull is nice and crisp - definitely as good as the best striker-fires out there! HANDLING: Very controllable and points naturally. The bore of the 9E is very low to the hand, so muzzle rise was not bad at all even during rapid fire. The ergonomic shape of the grip also distributes recoil wel, enhancing speed of delivery, shooter comfort, and quick follow up shots. CONSTRUCTION: The internals of 9E are identical to the SR9. All the stout construction that built Ruger’s famous reputation as a reliable and indestructible gun maker. TAKE DOWN: Takes down easily and without tools.
