I built two identical M&P compacts to use CCW and decided I only needed one in the end. I had had problems in the past with getting the M&P CORE models to cowitness the optic and irons properly with an optic plate without using an absurdly high sight set which proved to be a problem for drawing/holstering as the sight channel wasn't tall enough. Additionally I had seen failure problems with the typical optic plate breaking due to heavy use and discovered Vulcan Machine Werks in Plano TX to mill a slide to directly accept the ACRO This solves the mounting plate failure issue and gave it a DLC finish. (https://vulcanmachinewerks.com/m-p-aimpoint-acro/ - they do other pistol models as well, can't recommend their work enough).
This gun fits holsters just fine, and co-witnesses optic/irons perfectly.
The quirk with performing this modification is that it required the deletion of a rear sight requiring an ACRO P-2 Optic
