Have a matching set of an original Colt 1911A1 dated 1942, and a .22 conversion kit (in original box) from 1938-40. Do not know the origin of the nickel plating, but Dad had this in possession when I was born (1956). It may have been a presentation pistol to an Army Officer.
The pistol has a lanyard loop on the main-spring housing. The .45 has the early fine-cut front and rear sights, so it has not seen a rebuild. Nor are there any extra depot refurbished proofs. The .22 has adjustable rear sights. The original instructions for the .22 conversion are included (did not observe any date on the paperwork).
The condition is very good, with some flaking of the plating.
$6000 for the pairing.
