I'm selling a 1958 Romanian M56 SKS. This is as close to a Russian SKS as you'll find.
"Designated as the M56, Romanian SKSs can be some of the hardest to identify due to how similar they are to the Russian SKS it was directly copied from. Unlike Yugoslavia, whenever Romania received technical data packages from the USSR, they didn’t change much. This is why their AKM clones are some of the closest to Soviet spec as well...almost indistinguishable..." - (Gun Digest Magazine: https://gundigest.com/military-firearms/sks-collecting-and-identification-a-buyers-guide)
- It has a very smooth trigger - for an SKS.
- It's much lighter than the wooden stocked versions. (I do not have the original stock)
- The recoil impulse is softer than an AK.
- All the parts have matching serial numbers except the trigger group.
- The bore is clean.
- It comes with 7 "duck bill" 20 round magazines. (The metal one does not work, but if you're the tinkering type, you may get it to work.)
- If you want to go with the top-feed method and the original 10rd design, you can buy the original magazine's are plentiful online.
- The dustcover will accept a scope or dot. (I tried it with a dot and didn't notice a POI shift between cleanings.)
This SKS is really fun to shoot, and this is a rare variant. It's massively over-engineered (even more than the AK) so it will last forever, and SKS prices keep going up so it's an actual investment.
